Daniel and I went out today to the pond to mess around and try to catch some trout. The rivers are to low and clear to get into any steelhead plus the numbers are down so far. We saw some small ones (16-20in) rolling around by the shore but it was cold and they werent feeding at all. After the wind calmed down a bit the air started to heat up and Daniel hooked a nice 15 or 16in trout on a micro jig under a float and I was casting a spoon, two cast later while he was letting his fish go I felt a small trout bite and then my ultra light just stopped! Out of the water a big rainbow came out of the water!! I was really surprised by the size of it and it put Daniels ultra light rod and 4lb to the test.





It was nice to hook a big fish as its been about three weeks. This is my biggest rainbow to date weighing 11.14oz and was 31inches long!!!!!!

Yea, thats why you don't let Chad borrow your ultralite thats rigged up with a virgin spoon It was a classic. Chads asks me if I have ever caught anything on that particular spoon that I had tied on my ultra lite, without even realizing he was baiting me into a response, I blurted out, why no I haven't. oopps shouldn't have said that. Three casts later and well, you know the ending.

11 pounds on 4 pound test???!!! NICE!!! on a spoon no less, very nice!!!
