The resort site says the ice should be off well before the April 24th opener, that said, is it better with warmer water or is the opener allways a good bet? Fished with the family last year
in the first week of June (kid was out of school) and did ok... what is the best time/condition to target? Thanks for the help.

Opening day until around June is dynamite. You can continue to catch them in the summer just most people stop catching them using powerbait. Those using small jigs and flys do well all year. It gets really good again in the fall right before the lake closes. We will be there quit a few times this year! Can't wait!

Pulled up the resort site to check the fishing report and there is still alot of ice http://www.diamondlake.net/ check out the people in the boat with the lawnchairs on thin ice

I thought about going there saturday but went to Hyatt instead. those people on the ice are craaazy
