-Diamond Lake in the snow (05-24-10)-

Postby hollywood on Fri May 28, 2010 2:01 pm

I had the chance to go out to Diamond Lake with my uncle and we had a great day of fishing. The weather was horrible and snowed on us most of the time, on top of that I ended up soaking my feet before we even started the morning when pushing the boat off the rocks. :-o Good thing we found what the fish wanted or it would have been a miserable day being that it only got up to 35 degrees. :D Here are a few pics from the day.

Here is the fly that was killing them up there! All of my big fish came on this fly. I hooked 6 between 17 and 23 inches.

Image

We are in the process of perfecting a combination to fish under a float a Diamond Lake and these jigs and flys will be made exclusively for this lake!

Image

I hooked probably 30 or 40 trout up there in a half day of fishing and it was less than perfect conditions. Once the weather stabilizes the combination above is going to be killer at Diamond Lake. \M/ We will be filming a video up there very soon showing exactly how we fish for these trout including three different techniques that are deadly on trout in any lake or pond.

Yes it is ....I have two friends up their that keep me posted on the fishing and it has been off the wall this year. The only bad thing has been the weather.

One of them just free drifts his boat, throws a small leach pattern out with a split shot and has his limit in two hours. The other has been trolling using night crawlers.

What both have said is the fish are aggressive now and just about anything works. As the hatches come off the fishing will slow down. Now is the time before it warms up and the feed improves.

I'm headed for Wickiup next week to try and get in to the big browns that are in that lake. River Wolf is up there now waiting out the storms.

Sweet, let me know when you head up there. We were planning on fishing the river below Wickiup for big browns. Its pretty fun up there and a great way to fish for them. Are you staying for a few days?

Nice work Chad! I have been work'n alot the past few weeks and unable to pop on to keep up. I am going to be at Diamond the first
week in July and your fly and jig video was fun to watch. I know it's a little later than one wants for prime fishing but thats as soon as
my schedule will give. Just in case I am not lucky on the drawing do you think the fly's and or jigs will be ready for on-line sales before
then?

Yeah, we are planing on going up next week and filming a full video. When I get home I with put them in the online store along with a Video Episode showing how we fish them up there. They will be online the week of the 14th give or take. Just want to test out a few combinations up there before putting the whole series online! ;)

RW moved over to Odell Chad as the fishing was poor at Wickiup. Maybe next year I will get up their. I had heard the fishing was off the wall at Odell so will give it a try.

YES, Riverwolf really likes fishing for them so we will focus on them. I like those rod bending Hawgs called Mackinaw. :)

Well, you can use two rods now, why not keep one down low for the big guys?

You could do that if we were using downriggers but we aren't. Fishing from a drift boat. I really get spoiled when I have the Hawghunter but its in the shop. Fishing with out downriggers and electronics, what am I thinking? X_X Its always good to get out on the water and see old friends again. One of my old employees (in my past life) is up there and should have the inside info on where and how. :ymhug:

Gonna fish Odell a few days and than leave for Astoria for some serious Sturgeon fishing. :-BD Really looking forward to that let me tell you. I just hope we catch some good weather . Geeeesssshhhhhh, will this rain ever quit? :ass:
