three rivers in two days

Postby dew on Sun Dec 05, 2010 6:24 pm

fished the elk, sixes and chetco this weekend all rivers where in great shape.(amagine that) lots of pressure on the elk and sixes. for the weekend we went 3 for 8 the biggest was 35. all chromers with sea lice. we had alot of missed bits.(slow in our old age) i lost a toad on the checto. never saw it, but i know it was big. i guess that's why it's called fishing and not catching. sorry no pics, i'm like hambone. if it's noy over 35 it's not picture worthy. time to go to bed. cheers :D :D :D

i've never fished the sixes before,so that was a huge bonus.(just another option) :D

Good job Danny Boy!! :D Man that fish on the Chetco would haunt your sleep for a LOOOONG time!! I know you and when you say he was a TOAD....I could only imagine with all the big fish you have caught. When that happens, I hate not being able even to get a glimpse of the beast before the hook unfortunately pulls out. That is what keeps us keeping after em!! ;) \M/

yeah,my adrenaline was still pumping for half an hour. had to get on the sticks to work it out. i sure would have liked to see that fish. it wasn't the first time and hope it won't be the last. the day that the adrenaline stops pump'in is the day i quit fishing, and if you don't get a rush then why are you fish'in. reeltech just about faints when someone sets the hook. now that's passion. =)) =))

Atta boy Dan!!! Sixes is a fun little river ;) Sorry ya lost the toad X( I've heard it has been like the sand spit in Gold Beach on the Elk and Sixes :ymsick: bring your own water to fish kinda thing :ymsick: Every time Reeltech hooks a fish i laugh... the worried look on his face, the sweating, knees shaking,.... i think once he peed himself... =))... its a good thing he brings fish in fast or he might pass out from holding his breath in anticipation :ass:

i think i just peed myself from laughing so hard =)) =)) =)) =)) yeah, it was crowded. 70 boats on the elk and 40 on the sixes. we had a great plan of attack though. saturday morning we didn't start until 8:30. we put in at the rv park. i rowed up to the first hole, got out and pulled it up river about a half mile. the first hole was loaded wtih fish. lots of bites, line rubs and landed one.then they were gone. the fish were on the move all day. every bite we got was a slack line bite.i think that's why are landing ratio was down(that's my story and i'm sticking to it). we fished the sixes from the 101 to the beach. it has some of the most incredible steelhead water i've ever seen. it was a great trip :-BD

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOO......I get excited when someone swings, sets the hook, or gets that look like they are getting ready to swing :) And yes, I get all excited when someone hangs a fish and is fighting it too!! Doesnt matter whats on the other end. Jon and Dan are right about all of it!!
Jon made referral to the time on the Chetco during a tough bite when I hooked my biggest salmon ever sidedrifting eggs. We knew it was a big one, but when I got a glimpse of it, thats when Jon started to laugh at me and my reaction :D :D LOVE IT!! Oh yeah, there was also that time when I saw that steelie I hooked and said "thats the kind of fish that haunts my sleep" :D My excitement gets the best of me but thats the way I like it!!
To me, thats what its all about :D :D . Like Dan said, when that excitement goes away, time to take up another hobby :D

I never peed myself though.........not yet anyway!!! :D :D :D :)) :)) I think if I get to that point after seeing the fish, its a sign we are gonna wish we had a bigger boat......and a bigger net!! :-BD :-BD
