THE CURSE IS BROKEN!!!!

Postby ToyBox on Wed Mar 17, 2010 8:11 pm

I had the pleasure of taking Greg and his dad Guy down the river today!!!! Greg landed the meanest 25 inch hatchery fish i have ever seen!!! I thought on its first run and then second... oh yeah its at least ten!!!! Then it cartwheeled out of the water and showed itself :-o :-o To my surprise it was only half of that!! Greg landed that fish like he'd been doing it all his life!!! ^:)^ ^:)^ :YMAPPLAUSE: :YMAPPLAUSE: We had a few other chances today that should have stuck well but couldn't catch up to them before they shook the hook out X( =(( =(( By the way CHAD... Gregs hookset makes yours look like a little girl scout swatting at flies!!!! Yet another test to my Rogue rods... i didn't know they could break the sound barrier and not snap :D =)) Again Greg thank you for a fun day on the water... oh and of course i'm the one who caught the fricken squaw fish :ymdevil: :ymdevil: I think greg has the picture proof of it B-) :ymparty: :ymparty: if not i do and don't know how to show you guys :)

Hahaha!!! Atleast no one nearly caught a hook in the face due to my hookset!!! I had to duck when my dad swung for the fences one time!!! And of course, Jon had to show off and catch a trout after I had been casting in the section of water and right after I told him there's no fish in there :))

fun day for sure!!! I couldn't believe it when my line took off!!! I'm still in awe.

ouch!! is that true chad. L-) now greg's a pro. we're not going to hear the end of it. greg, it's a good thing you were using that braid that john uses. other wise you would have lost that fish. 8-|

Im switching my drift rod over to 10lb braid now. :))

Not a pro... Still learning... I've been fishing the water opposite of what we fished today! =))

I don't know bout that dan... With mono my hookset would've been fine! ;)

I don't bow to anyone but after today... ^:)^

greg, the braided line was a joke. hence the rolling eye's. john loves the stuff. works for him. for me it's all mono. i've used tons of braid. it's not all that they claim it to be. come to your own conclusion. cheers

I love mono also... But I also hate retying every 10 minutes like I was doing Sunday on the North Umpqua. I must've gone thru 10 leaders alone... Today I only went thru... What..? One maybe two? Just from Jon re-tying or a bent hook point.

Oh and again... I wanna thank you Jon... I know my dad and I had a hoot. Hope you aren't crapping napalm from the salsa!!! =))

Nice fish!! \M/ Did Jon show you how he sets the hook. He starts by looking up river while holding his rod, after he hears a fish jump he looks back to his rod, says "that's a nice fish, why is it jumping like that?", then realizes his line is peeling off the reel. After a few minutes he decides to fight the fish! =)) =)) I would not suggest it but it seems to work pretty good!!! :-BD

Nice bright fish there. If I was there I would have found the only squaw fish. :ass:

greg, that's because you were fishing out of boat. you loose a lot less gear than from the bank. next time your in a boat you might loose 5 or 6 leaders. it's the nature of the beast. anyway, congrats on the fish. john's a great fisherman. we got into 5 of them on sunday.
