Chad and I went up north to fish the Sandy river today. We met up with Lee Freeman from Triple S Guide service with the intentions of putting a hurtin on some winter chrome, and we were not disappointed . The first fish of the day came on a plug, and holy cow did it smash the plug. We haven't done a lot of pulling plugs, but the hits we got today on plugs were some of the hardest hits I've ever seen from steelhead. Chad and I did our best to keep the number of steelhead landed to a minimum. How did we do that? Well, we managed to loose all but one of the fish we hooked while side drifting

I know, pure talent right. Its not just anyone who can consistently set the hook to early despite several death threats from the guide and I think I heard him say something about finding the deepest hole on the river and playing catch with the anchor

Seriously though, Lee is a blast to go fishing with, and knows the stretch of the Sandy that we ran today, as good as anyone, I'm sure. We ended the day 5 for 11, but most importantly, we ended the day with smiles on our faces. You can't ask for more than that. Here are a couple pics of the chrome rockets from today. Tight lines
