Salmon Fishing Woodson Bridge Sacramento River!

Postby bscott022 on Tue Nov 17, 2009 4:32 am

Hi All:

I did not get to go salmon fishing opening day but this is what I heard about it.

There were a ton of bank fisherman by the bridge.

There were about 16 trailers in the parking lot when I went by.

One of the fishing Guys I know said that 5 were caught and He got two with three breakdowns.

Colusa fishing was good I was told so ... the salmon could be up as far as woodson bridge this week.

Question:

A breakdown is when the salmon takes the bait runs with the bait, the pole bends over but He gets loose somehow? Anyone know how they do this??

I guess you know it you got the stuff to be a fisherman

if

you put your best stuff on

jump into a ice cold shower at 4am

get out of the shower

flush all your money and credit cards down the toliet

and if you still are wanting to go ....

You are a fisherman

Thanks for the report. I think when a salmon hits something a runs with it they have a tight grip on the bait in there mouth and when they realize something isn't right they open there mouth and sometimes the hook grabs and sometimes it doesn't. My 2 cents.

when fishing there are many things we have complete control over. where we cast, what lure we use, what pound line to run... but the one thing we dont have control over is placement of the hook when we set it. sometimes it just comes out man...! grin and bear it!
