-Early Winter Steelhead!-

Postby hollywood on Wed Dec 24, 2008 12:08 am

We finally got some rain and the fish moved up fast!! We were on the river today with it dropping and the color and level were perfect. We thought it might be a little soon since there hasnt been any rain in months and we would be 40miles up river but the fish had other ideas. We hooked four steelhead and landed three, one small native around 18-20inches, a fat 30inch native hen and a beautiful bright 29.6inch hatchery buck (no pink on its cheeks)! Daniel hooked one right at the end of the day but it shook its head a few times and the hook pulled out. There was one other fish hooked that we saw and most people had not seen or heard of any caught so we felt pretty good about the day. Here is a pic of the native, it doesnt do the fish justice but it was 30inches and probably weighed 9+ pounds.

Man the natives fight so hard, its awesome. The buck fought very good as well and the water is cold with all of the snow melt. It will be good fishing from here on out and the numbers should increase a lot as well. Its on now!!

Yea, did you like my superior netting skills, Chad had that native in my lap twice before I finally got it in the net, its harder than it looks when your trying to film and net, plus we carry a pretty small net cause they are easier to carry. :D

Buddy, you got the job done :D Hats off to the multi tasking job of filming and netting.......good job man ;) Yeah, a big net is great, but definitely cumbersome to lug around when pounding the bank!!
