We had a great time out fishing with Rod and Clancy Holt on the Cowlitz River this week. We were fishing with Jon from North Fork Composites rod blanks as well and had the chance to fish some of the nicest steelhead rods every built!

Each boat had 8 custom made North Fork Composites rods. These technique specific rods were 7'4", 4-8 ultra light with the softest tip I have ever seen. They are slow action with a nice backbone for moving big fish. We were running 1000 size spinning reels and the combo is the lightest side drifting setup ever made. I have never had this much fun side drifting before. Each boat also had a deckhand so whenever we would break off we would get a new rod handed to us. He would then retie for us. We were in the water fishing 99% of the time. Very cool! :D

I am so pumped up for winters now. Come on rain! :D

You just don't miss with Clancy. He's been in the game a long time.
