I was able to get out with my Uncle Keith a few weeks ago and fish the applegate river. He had not had a chance to float fish much and did not have a lot of confidence in it. I did my best to get him fishing a float correctly and he did really good. He was getting nice drag free drifts and had a great day on the water. We hooked three fish and he landed two. It was a fun day and I got to see what it feels like when a steelhead engulfs your yarnie, flattens it out and rips it in half! Good times on a beautiful river.

First fish. Nice, pretty bright, native steelhead. I convinced him to release it.



Fish two. It did not make it all the way to the bank. Well, I had it in my hand once and then Kieth got a little to excited and it broke off.

um you mean convinced sarcastically right, native fish on the AG have to be released right. at any rate have you ever used charteuse yarn on the applegate ? I know a guy that takes the whole month of march of from work to fish the applegate and use alot of greenish yarn, and does really well. i tie a lot of charteuse bugs for the applegate

Yeah, I was kidding! The two guys fishing around us were like, "you can keep those". I was like, no you can't and even if you could I would not allow it. We have been messing around with some chartreuse in our low and glow egg patterns and they have been working. We will tie up some for our next trip to the applegate! Thanks
