I was talking about fish of all species in general but you are totally right Dew numbers make a huge difference in catches. I have to disagree about the Klamath though. :D They are a special species of salmon on the Klamath that will eat anything you throw out at any time of day. If only they had those kind of Salmon in other rivers! ^:)^ Speaking of the Klamath we need to get down there this fall, I have not fished it in years. ;)

It was a joke mostly but I believe that certain rivers have something special about them that make the salmon biters. I don't know what the combination is but the Klamath along with a few other rivers have salmon that just BITE! This was a great spring Chinook run on the rogue this year but I know people were having a hard time getting many salmon to bite let along 10-20 fish days. The feather river in nor cal is another example, even low return years, the salmon bite and all throughout the day many times. Even the Trinity River when I fished it had a lot of biters in it and the spring and fall runs were very small. When I would fish it before I moved back to Oregon my buddy and I would hook 4 or 5 Chinook every time out and that was with hundreds of fish in the river not thousands. Those are Klamath fish as well. Just something that I have noticed in a select few rivers.

Like everyone probably knows... One person doesn't know how a true salmon bites. Lol... Hope to change that right when I get back... Float and eggs ftw!!!!

Just everyone knows, I'm gonna outfish reeltech on float fishing one day... :) that's not cocky, just a guess!

Never fished the klamath, was suppose to do that with Barry this year. :)

I would not recommend a jig while float fishing. Leave those for Daniel, John, Jon and I! :D We might use some of this under a float this winter. Milks out quit nicely I must say! ;)

UV eggs. what are you kids going to come up with next? :D those are some nice looking eggs chad. quick cure, tide water red , nothing added has accounted for more fish than anything i've ever used. i believe less is better. i know chinook can be chemical junkies, but think alot of people are using to much chems.(just my observation) you'd be amazed how well a chunk of plain boraxed eggs work. old school baby. not to change the subject, but i'm 1/1 with reeltech. he might say it's 1/2, but that one did not count because i rowed all day, JOHN! oh and squawfish don't count. reeltech and i are going to put the wood to some big chinook after work tonight. john's a really good netter.

didn't get to fish where we planed last night due to the dam breaching yesterday. what a mess it made . i hope it clears up soon. the fall run was just kick'n off. reeltech and i turned around and put in at toulvelle and went up river. sheriffs department wouldn't let anyone go down. as far as the catching, i landed a 22 lb. wild hen that i released. i was surprised how good of shape she was in. we also had a couple good bites. john had one on breifly. nothing on plugs. john did a great job netting the fish. i told him next time he should just hold the net all day , because when i'm bouncing, it's fish after fish. i'm the KVD of bouncing. haha cheers

Interesting thread! I could tell stories about fishing on Kenai and Russian river! The reds are a blast. I remember once looking up the river and four people had a fish on a the same time, including myself! This was at the confluence of the Funny river and Kenai. I was at the Russian river when this unfortunate guy who just came up from Seattle got attacked by momma grizzly and his entire face got taken off!! Poor guy, he ran into a bad situation because some dumb kids just got through throwing rocks at the cubs!

Dan, just curious, did you end up fishing the Quartz creek? Such a beautiful body of water but I never fished it.

We did fish it but only for a half hour or so. It was late in the day, the mosquito's were thick, and the fish weren't in there in the numbers we were hoping for.
