What to do when the rivers are blown out?

Postby archer on Fri Jan 02, 2009 12:45 pm

Well, I'm going to take the kids over to the pond and hopefully get them into some trout. What do you guys do when the water is to high to fish?

Sit at home and cry!! Nope, I go to the pond but at least they are stocking trout up to 15lbs!! I tie jigs also, and update the webstie. It keeps me in the mindset of fishing

Tie jigs, tie yarnie spools, gawk at my gear, browse websites like this......watch Steelheadstalkers videos for the 100th time. If I aint doing it, I gotta be talking about it, reading about it, watching it, fiddling with tackle and gear. I do know that Im always thinking about it :D :D
Spent some time doing trigger jobs on a few of my rifles with a friend. Got a nice new rifle for Xmas that I will be working up a load for. This is the time that I wish I would get LOTS of reels to do.
I know, however, that it is clearly obvious that there really is nothing we would all rather be doing than battle with some big Steel. Its coming Gentlemen.....Its coming ;)

Hey John do you have or know of what reel oil and grease they use on the Japanese versions of shimano reels? I have two shimano twinpower reels that are butter smooth and they are so much better than the US version its not even funny. I was just wondering if they use a different oil and grease on their reels. Anyway, probably around February before we start hitting up the Applegate a lot I want to get my cleaned. How long is the turnaround? Thanks

Chad,
As far as I know, they use the same normal Shimano lubricants. Turnaround is pretty quick. Man I need to get bendo on some CHROME!!!

I feel bad for you guys. . . I'm headed out to the coast tomorrow for 4 (maybe more if the fishing is good) days. The forecast is sunshine and highs in the 60's and 70's,v :D :D is it really January??? The coastal rivers are dropping into shape down here, just hope those natives are in.

I take my younger kids or grandsons or just about anyone else I can get in the boat and go to Hagge Lake. The drive is less than 5 minutes and we all love to eat trout!!!!!

Yea, trout are a good eating fish that is for sure. Chad and I love to eat some of the browns we catch out of the Deschutes when we go east. Where is Hagge Lake?
