Changed my plans this weekend and skipped the drive to the coastal rivers and went 5 minutes out my back door to Hagge Lake. On Saturday I took my no. 8 child trolling for trout. I had no idea trout of this size were in the lake. Unfortunately, I left my net and had a terrible struggle trying to get two large rainbows into the boat on two separate hookups. I thought I was looking at a small Coho the size was trtemendous. I estimate 10-12 lbs and 30" give or take a little. And bright colors to say the least. Too big to handle with a child as my assistant.......lost them both.
On Sunday I returned with my no. 7 child and we fished the same area with exactly the same set-up. Didn't hook any big ones but hooked 7 and got 4 very nice sized trout in the boat. All in all, it was a great weekend! After the incredibly long dry spell this fall and winter I was glad to get my kids into some fish!

yeah, there is some HUGE fish in that lake. i've only seen one of the big ones like you did one time though. the first time there and in a rental boat. my wife picked it up trolling a kastmaster. got it to the boat before it dove and snapped the line mid leader.

Re: Trout Fishing Henry Hagge Lake
Have had a few more trips to Hagge Lake the last month. Catching trout every trip so far. Haven't hooked into any of those big ones as we did earlier this year.

Re: Trout Fishing Henry Hagge Lake
Have been enjoying a few morning and evening fishing hours on Hagg for the last month or so. Trolling near the dam for trout has been most productive. Success with diver or banana weight and lake flashers using Rainbow trout pellets. Anybody aware of other good spots to just anchor and trout fish?
