-UV Yarn-

Postby Neon on Sun Jan 09, 2011 9:48 am

Been fishin the UV Yarn these guys produce, and have had absolutely fantastic results! Used it with eggs to nail a pair, of double digit, pilot Winters, and tied as Yarnies too to spank some very respectable cookie cutter brats. All in all, it has brought the overall productivity up, 'specially on those, super secret North Coast streams! ;) hahaha! Good luck out there! See you with tight lines and hot fish!

My first trip out specifically targeting Winters. Couple days after some severe high water, these fish ate Blue UV Yarn, and egg snot. They are both big for this drainage.

The buck went 35", that's a big fish period!

Couple of these fish ate un-scented UV Yarnballs on the Sidedrift.

Here's a couple good ones...
Drift fishin the "Jane Fonda" has been my best producin' color combo this winter. Its a UV Yarnie tied with Pink, and Orange. I rip the yarn pieces into "threes" so I have six chunks to tie with, from two pieces of Steelhead Stalkers UV Yarn.

Thanks a lot you guys!
The yarn is killer! My favorite, two-color combos this season have been:
Jane Fonda - Orange/Hot Pink
Bleu Cheese - Blue/Oregon Cheese
Mac 'n Cheese - Cream Sickle/Oregon Cheese
Puff Peach - Peachy/Baby Pink
Power Nap - Peachy/Oregon Cheese
Waffle'r - Red/Cream Sickle

Not like it really matters, but colder water and the colors get darker for me Like a Waffle'r, or Jane Fonda, as it gets less, and less frigid, I lighten things up a bit. Like a Power Nap, or Puff Peach. Just observations, but I notice it with jigs too. Those flame red bead jigs work awesome almost anytime, but when it is really, really cold, I like the same, pink/white jig, with dark red beads. Prolly just personal preference, but I seem to notice a little bit of a difference.

Don't ask how we came up with names for those color combos... its just what we call em. Like code when talking on the river... "what'd ya get yours on?"...."oh, you know, a Waffle'r, and a Jane Fonda." That's how it came about.

Can't wait to get some rags made up here soon! That yarn will be wicked for rag work. The stuff, just "moves" really well in the water.
