Today was beautiful.

Postby greg on Wed Mar 11, 2009 5:39 pm

Went to "greenwood" above the ped. bridge today in hopes of a fish... When I got down there... I thought I was going to have luck on my side... ehh... Found a 1/2oz Beau Mac west coast float!! YEE HAW!!! AN ACTUAL FLOAT COMPARED TO THE WALMART SPECIAL I USE!!!! But back to fishing.... Thought I had one on the pw... But didnt. So I move down to this DEEP calm area, took TWO 5bb split shot slinkies to hit bottom.... :o  Gave up on garden hackle and jumped up on this rock that looked good...

Now Chad... You are going to be very disappointed in me... BUT I lost the only pink micro jig I had on some fish that whipped my arse. Saw me off on a ledge just as I was getting control of it too... Saw my float and pop. BYE BYE FISH!!!

Oh well.. Gave up... Went to the pond and ripped some trout lips with my float setup and worms... LOL!!! Made a fish bleed from its lip how hard I set the hook on it. i love fishing for trout with braid.. Plus I got an f-u from someone down there since I was outfishing him. 8-) 8-)

But yea... I feel good about today.
Here's the pic of the day!

Here are some pics of the whole that I hooked the fish... VERY DEEP... Atleast 8ft. And it was only about 20yrds long... Very manageable with a float! :D

I think it was a big ole gnarly steelie.. Yes. Never jumped... Stayed down and took long drag screaming runs. So I would say yes... Cause no trout or sucker could pull line like that fish did.

If you can get a ride I would go to the lower applegate by the tavern area and fish the jig and bobbers there!!! Its good water and I bet you could get your first winter steelhead there!!

Good on you Greg for trying. That is a good area you are fishing there. There are steel in there. Those ledges are fish magnets ;) ;) I hope its true that you actually hooked into a steelie ;)
Keep at it.......you will get em!
