Nestucca in the Summer

Postby drawman on Thu Jun 23, 2011 7:09 am

Hi Guys,

My first post, great website and fantastic videos. I enjoyed the Nestucca River Fall Chinook video which leads me to my question:
Is the driftboat anchored? then when a fish on, you go to shore? It would seem if not anchored, that would be alot of rowing?

I will be visiting some realatives in Beaver OR in August. Seems like that time is "in between" runs of either steelhead or salmon?
Never fished the river before, so looking forward to it. I would like to float the lower part (in at 4th bridge) in my personal pontoon boat, but would like to know some local etiquette for the area for floating.

I will also return in Jan or Feb for more fishing, I'm guessing that will be a better time?

Keep up the great work

Welcome to the site and thanks, Chad has worked very hard to make this site what it is, and I helped catch some fish for the vids:). When we were running quick fish we were not anchored, but most of the time we did anchor when float fishing. I have not fished the Nestucca this time of year, but there should be springers and summer steelhead in there now. Jan or Feb would be a good time for winter steelhead.
