Fishing with Slinkies

Postby jcb on Tue Oct 27, 2009 6:24 am

I fish the Salmon River in Ny and the rigging method for slinkies on this site is Illegal for us to use due to the distance of weight to the hook. It is a max of 4 feet. I really like this method are the any suggestions to modify so the slinkie is at a fixed point and still be effective?

Yes, there is an easy way to make it fixed on the line. When you tie your main line to your leader use a snap swivel and tie your leader to the barrel portion of the snap swivel and then you have the snap portion hanging down and available to put the slinky on. I hope that makes sense, if not I'm sure I can find a pic somewhere.

Here is a link on how to make Slinkies
http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbetter/slinkies/

With the whole in the end you can easely see how to attach it to your line. I like tying a snap swivel in the line some 2 feet from the hook. Main line and leader ties to the swivel and slinkie to the snap.
