Well Im suppose to be picking up a 10 footer tomorrow afternoon!!! Time for me to get off the bank...
One question.... How should I fish while rowing? Should I pull a plug or float a jig?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks guys!

Re: Fishing from a toon
I've never fished from a toon, but I have heard that pulling plugs out of one can be difficult. Although, it would be hard to set a hook when a float goes under if your rowing, so ? Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

just think of it as unlimited bank access. If you have an electric motor then by all means pull plugs. They are a pain in the butt to pull plugs from, at least the ones i've rowed. Get an anchor and a good pair of waders and your set

I'd figure out that rowing thing first. Pontoon boats handle, track, and respond differently than traditional drift boats. In my two seater I will fish from the boat if the holding water is small or broken up. If the run/drift/hold is large I normally bech the boat and bank fish. Float fishing and drift fishing both work well, though I would save the plugs untill you get to know the boat well. If your boat has a rod holder/s just reduce your lead on your dirft rig and start thinking like a boondogger or sidedrifter...run your rig down the best line and get ready to grab your rod. There is nothing new with float fishing. I usually run my floats out in front of the boat, holding back on the oras to match boat speed to my float. Get ready to have some fun!

Chad I have 2 and you can give them a shot if you make it up this winter. They are great for getting to places, but when you hook a fish while rowing one you just have to leave it in the holder and row like mad for shore or soft water to anchor in. Otherwise you're at the fish's mercy.
The best thing I ever bought for mine was the "back up anchor". It's pretty much straps and a D ring so that you just have to grab a rock when you get to the river and put the straps around it. Very nice if you have to carry the boat down a trail.
