For those who want to try their Float rod out with some of Chads Jigs now is the time on the Chetco. A good friend of mine has been doing well.

Thanks Chad for the update on the order.
Keep a sharp eye on the river level, http://waterdata.usgs.gov/or/nwis/uv/?s ... 0065,00060 Hydrologic http://ahps2.wrh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrogr ... to3&view=1. and last of all weather http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/fin ... uery=97415
I never leave home without checking these just before I go out the door. That river can change fast and it can blow out over night. Travel cost a lot and if the weather is going from ok to bad, I STAY HOME. To many times I have stood on a muddy bank and watch the rain come down.

Not neccassarily Greg, just because its low and clear never means its not good. You just need to change tactics. There are many rivers i would prefer low and clear. Some rivers like the applegate and illinois i think fish much better on the low and clear side especially with bobbers

Re: Chetco
I too agree with toybox and Chad. Some of my best days on the Smith have been low and clear. Its my belief you have to be at the top of your game to get them. They can see you and what your throwing at them. The trick is to shield both.
