You want to see how to make a bobber stop? I just buy the pre made ones in the store but I guess there probably is a way to make them your self. If you can find some directions or a tutorial on it let me know and I can make a video on how to do it.

I found out how to tie them onto your line... Hmmm.... wonder if I can do it onto like a straw or something.

And I'll post if I can do it in the tip and tricks area.

interesting video. nice job. i do a lot of bobber and jig fishing, but ive never really used a bobber stop before. maybe its not a washington thing. ive heard of guys using them to allow your jig to reach a desired depth...? usually a deeper than normal run, or something like that...? whats the idea behind using one? yeah i know, i can hear it now, all you bobber stop users collectively saying, "JEEZE"!!

They allow you to adjust your depth easy, you can go from a hole or run thats four feet to a deep hole thats ten. Many people use fixed floats, which is what you are doing I would imagine, both work fine. I have always used a sliding float rig setup you can see a little video on how we rig it up below.

thanks for the video offer, but believe me, i use sliding floats on a daily basis. here we call em "dink floats". they work just as good as anything else on the market, but they only cost about a buck a piece depending on the size! good financial sense!

So you use bobber stops then, I'm confused? If you are using a sliding float setup something has to stop your float

When I say sliding float I mean the line slides through the middle of the float and then stops at your desired depth.

I believe you wrap the line around your float and slide it up and down the line that way. Both work well.

yeah, with a dink float you would wrap your line around it with enough wraps to hold it in the desired position, yet not so many that you cant easily slide it up or down the line...

When I turn on the t.v thats what I wanna see. Anyhow thanks for the killer videos.

yup, thats it! although i wouldnt recomend a piece of pencil lead thats "pinched" onto your line. pinching your line creats a tremendous weak spot. and i'd be willing to bet, if a fish happens to snap your line, that'll be where it happens. yes, knots are also weak spots. but knots are unavoidable. instead, allow the hollow core lead to slide at will on your line. or try using egg weights. these freely slide up and down the line as well, without any damage. or perhaps a "t" swivel set-up with the pencil lead connected directly to the swivel instead.

I have thought about doing this a lot but to be honest the sales from micro jigs are paying for most of the cost to keep the website running and pay for the high volume of bandwidth that is consumed every month with these video! :D That's a good thing but since we really haven't pursued any sponsorship to help offset costs I will have to wait on it, once there is some other support from other outside sources I will probably be putting up a video on how to tie micros!

I understand, what do you think about offering Micro Jig tying classes? Just an idea. I would sign up for that for sure.

That's a good idea and if there was enough interest I could probably set it up where people could pay a set fee and have access to a jig tying tutorial or class through and online video through the website. I will think about something like this but at the moment I am very busy tying jigs and editing videos as well as other website updates! April would probably be a good time to start something like that as things slow down a bit here. D

Chad, something to think about is selling jig materials. Being one who has tied up a lot of jigs I find it useful to have a resource for my materials. Consider selling the materials to tie up certain jigs. Match the materials to a jig you have created. ie: hooks, thread, feathers, eyes, leaded or not.

I often find a jig I want and after putting it in the water decide if I want to tie up a dozen or so. I have handed many jigs out on the river when I find one that is really performing and others are interested. Nothing gets another fisherman's attention faster than to keep yelling "fish on". If you could sell the product I would push others your way to get the materials ,or the already tied jigs. It takes a lot of guess work out off tying one up if you had the materials for that jig . Anyway, food for thought my friend.

I would also be interested in purchasing jig materials, I told myself this winter I can only fish jigs I have tied.

Its a great idea! I could put together a package were you could tie up 5 or 10 jigs with the material. The only problem is how will you guys know what to do and when, to get the finished product?
